Hearing Impairment

Hearing loss can be temporary or permanent. It often gradually deteriorates as you get older, but it can sometimes happen suddenly.

If you notice any problems with your hearing or you are worried about a family member or friend then a visit to a GP can help you or them find out the cause and they will be able to give you advice on treatment.

In children deafness may be detected soon after a baby is born, or later in life. Again, speak to your GP if you have any concerns about your child's hearing, they are there to support you.
