Dementia

People often get confused about the difference between Alzheimer's disease and dementia.

Dementia is not a disease itself but rather a collection of symptoms that result from damage to the brain caused by different diseases.

Alzheimer's disease is a type of dementia and, together with vascular dementia, makes up the majority of  Dementia cases

If you sometimes suffer from memory loss this is quite normal. Memory can  be affected by stress, tiredness, certain illnesses, and medicines. However, if you are becoming increasingly forgetful and it is affecting your daily life, or it is worrying you, or someone you know, you should get help from a GP. Dementia is not a natural part of aging

Dementia is not only about memory loss. It can also affect the way you speak, think, feel and behave. For more advice and support and information click on the links below
